If I may make a further comment, the idea of asking for random donations
on the door is total pants. If you are putting an event of any kind, you
need to be able to work out the budget for it. You need to know what the
various elements are going to cost, and how much money you are going to
make if the event sells out, or if you have, say, 85% of capacity
attendance. There is stll the possibility that you may lose money if you
don't get the attendance, but at least you have mitigated that
possibility. Of course if you decide you want to "lose" money or subsidise
an event, and you have it to lose, that's fine. If you make a "profit"
then of course you need to decide where that money is going to go. It's
nothing to do with politics - just simple economics. It works best if you
delegate decisions on these matters to a trusted individual or group of
individals who can then report back to the collective as a whole.

This said, the T-shirt idea sounds like a good one - you've got to factor
in the cost of making the T-shirts of course, and bear in mind that not
everyone will want one of your shirts.

Also can I mention that I've put some comments up about the M1 widening
campaign at
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/sheffield/2005/09/323961.html
(well there's no point in writing them if no-one reads them is there?)

All of the above just my personal opinions...

Simon
