I think this is a piss take and that this person has joined the mailing list
for the sole purpose of antagonising everyone.

Regardless, it is interesting that you have responded in such a negative and
argumentative way, considering you are attacking everyone else for being
negative and argumentative.

It's obvious that you have never been to matilda. If you had you would
realise that none of the arguments on the list are a reflection on the
personal interaction of the actual people writing the emails. The email list
is so insignificant to the actual decision making process that you cannot
get any kind of indication on how things operate if you have NEVER been
there.

Also, for your information many things have and are happening in the space,
including the Gig space and cafe which people have dedicated huge amounts of
time, resources and energy into creating, so any implication that we don't
do anything is not just unfair but patently untrue..As you'd know if you'd
ever been down there.

On a personal note, I think your email was rude and there were other ways in
which you could make your point. IF you want to be involved in Matilda, I
would suggest you get a better understanding on the way things are working
and the relationships of people which are not defined by this fucking email
list before randomly attacking everyone. Especially when it is clear no one
has any idea who you are...Who are you by the way?

"This mailing list is definitely a pain in the arse sometimes. But the
list isn't everything that happens at Matilda - it's just somewhere
where the more long-winded of us thrash out our sometimes very tedious
arguments. Judging what Matilda achieves by these emails is a bit like
measuring the output of a factory by the conversations that go on in
the canteen."
Beaurocrasy eh? Long winded arguments, wow you sound so Important and Super
Cool.

The content of conversation in a factory canteen is made by it's workers.
The output is produced by it's workers, they are directly related. Unless of
course you think the white collars count for something.

"Your remarks are a reminder that we waste too much energy on silly
inward-focused arguments"
Beaurocrasy again! A symptom of capitalism.

" If your political theory is in denial
about the basic ridiculousness of human beings"
No it isnt. I feel we all have a sacred human presence but many of us don't
recognise it in others

"If you had a lot of power, with the same
attitude, it would probably make you genocidal."
I have enough power to change my immediate suroundings as does everyone if
only they knew they did.

"2. What fantastic things are you doing to change the world - except
for criticizing everyone else for failing to change it?"
I speak out and propose solutions, some of these are already being
implemented.

"Your thinking reveals an us and you division. Why do you feel so
alienated? To me it seems like you are thinking of yourself as a
consumer and have expectations of us, the providers."

It isn't me that's labelling myself by belonging to a club, or organisation.
I'm just a survivor who is surviving. I chose my path and I am not
alienated, just extremely angry at the political, environmental and
commercial mess that is in our human-collective part of the life of this
beautiful planet. It just seems to someone on the outside looking in that
clowns, parties, beaurocratic meetings and coffee making is not relevant and
is not taken seriously by the 200 people who do have real power to change
things. I can't put my acheivements on a public mailing list but I have done
some and made some changes for the better and influenced the way that some
people with more power than I have are doing things.
The best thing anyone young enough with a concience can do is to do what I
said: do a politics degree and go into the heart of Mordor and chuck the
bloody ring down the mountain.

I haven't had the time as a single mum with kids at school to come from
outside Sheffield to Matilda, I was thinking of doing you all a mural as I
have done a few before and am quite nifty at it but I may as well go and do
one at the old folks home.
