PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY

The Common Place Cinema Collective invites you to...

AUTONOMOUS SOCIAL CENTRES: a new political movement?

A day of film, discussion and great food.

29 January at The Common Place social centre
Leeds
23-25 Wharf Street
www.thecommonplace.org.uk

Across Britain, political activists are buying, renting or squatting
run-down, disused buildings in city centres and turning them into vibrant,
volunteer-run spaces called ‘social centres’. With free or cheap food,
regular film and gig nights, political meeting spaces, libraries, free
shops and independent media groups, social centres are rapidly becoming a
key site in anticapitalist struggle. Where is this movement
headed? What can it achieve? As well as films about the rise of social
centres across Europe, activists from social centres in the UK and Italy
will share their experiences and ambitions.
