Hope someone can help with this. I've also forwarded it to the Birmingham
Anti-Racist Campaign people, but no one has come back yet!

P.S. There was a configuration problem with the list, but it's been fixed
now.

Hi,

I tried to subscribe to the Birmingham No Borders list but when I tried to
reply to the confirmation email it kept failing.

I'm actually from London No Borders and I wanted to subscribe to the list
because I urgently need help trying to find a bail surety in the W.Midlands
area for a woman in Yarl's Wood detention centre.

The woman is Amanda Sibiya from Zimbabwe. She is 19. Amanda can't be
deported to Zimbabwe at the moment as there was a recent court ruling
against all deportations to Zimbabwe (although the government is trying to
overturn this). Most Zimbabweans have been released from detetion, but
Amanda and another woman came to UK via South Africa, so they remain in
detention as the home office was trying to deport them there, though this
now looks unlikely as South Afica would immediately deport them to Zimbabwe.
Both have been on a hunger srtike since 1st November, and have been
transferred to hospital this week, where their beds are surrounded by
guards.

Amanda is likely to get bail but needs a second surety in W.Midlands area
and also an accommodation address. The bail hearing cannot be booked until
these things are in place and will take up to 2 weeks to arrange. As Amanda
has not eaten for 39 days, this is very urgent.

The bail surety would be a person who lives in W.Midlands and is able to
attend court in Birmingham. They would need to be able to prove they have
about £500 in the bank either by bank statements or payslips.

Amanda also needs temporary accommodation until she can find a longer-term
place to stay. This would need to be an all-female household, in W.Midlands
and the person she is staying with would also need to come to court with
proof of address such as a tenanacy agreement.

If you or your group can help in any way please contact me urgently on 07986
075 829 or at sara_b37 at hotmail.com
