1. Solihull Demo - 25th Aug

As usual, the Solihull picket is taking place on the last Friday of the
month. It was suggested that the theme for this month be Deportation,
especially with the escalating deportation of Zimbabweans and Iraqis and
the revival of West Midlands Anti-Deportation Campaigns
(http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/birmingham/2006/08/347947.html).

Please make sure you bring the usual stuff: banners and placards,
megaphone, pots and pans, chalk etc. Felipe is gonna do a new quick banner
with the words "Stop racist deportations".

2. Internation Day of Action - 7th Oct

October 7th will see the 3rd Day of Migration-Related Actions (the 1st and
2nd were on 31 Jan 2004 and 2 Apr 2005 respectively -
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/04/308307.html). It was agreed to add
Birmingham NoBorders to the list of signatories supporting the call for
action, which was agreed on at the European Social Forum in Athens in May
2006 (read the call here: http://www.noborder.org/item.php?id=372).

It was suggested to do something (picket, demo, direct action,
banner-drop..?) in town rather than in Solihull. Or maybe we can do both?

Things to do include:
- flyer (this could simply be a copy of the call for action?);
- publicity through all available channels;
- co-ordinate with other interested groups (ARC, NCADC etc.).

3. West Midlands Anti-Deportation Campaigns

Last Sunday, a number of failed and successful asylum seekers, along with
their supporters, met at the Cottage Social Centre and revived the West
Midlands Anti-Deportation Campaigns (WMADC) (see
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/birmingham/2006/08/347947.html). 3
people/families have already decided to run public campaigns, and there
are a few from NCADC and NoBorders helping them with that. It's an awful
amount of work, so it would be great if other people with time and
experience got involved too.

4. Voucher swapping

This is now happening at The Cottage every Thursday at 7pm. More people
willing to take vouchers are desperately needed.

We need a leaflet to publicise this. The feature that Shiar did, but was
never published for different reasons, will hopefully be up on Indymedia
next week.
