thanks for that info! I couldn't see the correct button for looking - and yes you are quite correct, the group consensus was to wait for a couple of weeks for any dissension against the opening of the list membership. SO, if anyone objects please say soonest?

it's very easy to change the list subscription options from "approval 
required" to "open".

anyone with password access can enter the administrative site here:
http://lists.aktivix.org/mailman/admin/pagan-magik/

click on privacy options

scroll down and change "what steps are required for subscription?" from 
"require approval" to "confirm".

scroll all the way down and "submit your changes"

HOWEVER. maybe we should just wait a couple of days before implementing 
such changes just in case someone from *outside london* has serious 
misgivings about this decision.
