Hi, below ive pasted anna's minutes (plus what i can rmemeber). i was
going to add the minutes i took to it, but typically i am at my sister's
and cannot find that particular scrap of paper anywhere!! Sorry, but will
email the list when i do recover it.
Main point is 2 next meetings:
Meeting 1: is sunday 16 august, same place (london fields park
playground), 1pm. this is important last meeting to make sure we are all
prepared to go camping.
Meetin 2: is sunday 23rd august same time n place. this is last minute
discussions and updates.
Minutes:
1. Climate Camp
*Resources - We discussed the current resources list, will add and amend
the Google Doc with updated info (AP Annaele).
Discussed what would need to be purchased and what could be 'found'
AP Anna - Will try and source some carpet remnants for floor covering of
Tent, especially good for baby soft area.
Also, many things can be made out of junk/recycling, so if we could try n
save/bring clean yogurt pots (useful lots things), plastic milk bottles
(cut into trowels/scoops), lollypopsticks (paint mixers etc), large
plastic bottles (skittles/funnels), small drinking bottles (shakers for
babies), tetrapak cartons (purses) etc, and general junk modelling too.
Better than buying stuff, see what we can russle up n be creative.
We do have a budget from cc, so if anything is neccessary to buy, keep
receipts ofr small stuff, and consult the list/collective for bigger buys.
Gemma is on the lookout for a rainbow parachute, which she will buy,
unless anyone comes up with the goods asap?
* Zine - AP Anna - To get a price for Zine printing from a south london
printing co-op. Decided the zine should be typical a5 booklet size, in
black and white, which if using 10 a4 sheets (including cover)will produce
35 a5 sides, so therefore 35 kids can do a page each. We reckonned that no
more kids than this will be there in the camp, and so maybe do 50 copies
of the zine (one for each kid at the camp, and some extra). We thought if
we put aside 50 quid of the kitty for the zine, then this would be safe to
definately buy paper, staples, longarmed stapler, print all the zines etc.
If we were short of time n resources, then we can just photocopy pages and
staple pages together with a front page cover and back.
2. Vestas
*Group discussed the current situation at Vestas, the wind turbine blade
factory on the isle of wight currently being occupied by its workers.
There are many families
and children on the 'camp site' outside the factory, and at time of
meeting there was a callout from Workers Climate Action for Solidarity and
especially people with 'Childcare' skills. Anna D will be visiting the
Island on Monday night until Wednesday night and will report back on the
situation at that time. It was noted that many members of our group are
now away on holiday for the next couple of weeks, and so prob couldnt be
involved, but it would be great if we could have something to send
(email/post/etc) them in support? There must be many events/actions that
we cant physically get to but would like to help in a radical childcare
way...maybe kids action activity ideas? or banner making stuff? or advise
stuff?? just an idea.
(Will email more stuff to the list if necc. when i find the minutes, but
this is main stuff we chatted about- g x)
