- Unprocessed:
Heather and I met the other day to go over some plans for stalls and
activities. We are within reach of our target funds (though may fall
slightly short), and have almost exhausted i) the supply of stalls that
we have (20 total) and ii) our options for people to approach regarding
them.
Whilst brainstorming events for all ages we came to the conclusion that
there is nothing better that people like to do than get something for
nothing, and have a good old rummage in the process. With this in mind,
the idea of a jumble sale / free shop came up.
We were considering something like a bring and buy sale, so that we
could advertise that people could bring their own unwanted stuff down to
add to the pile - one person's trash is another person's treasure type
thing. So a Bradford fusion concept - Bring and Take stall?
As volunteer time is tight we were considering making this an
unsupervised event so people could just add to and take away as they
chose and then contributing to an honesty box if it was felt that
donations should / could be given. This could be as simple as a sealed
collection pot securely attached somewhere in the tent.
To make this viable, we need to have a starting stock of items for
- Ignored:
initial start up - has anybody got anything that could be thrown into
the mix (obviously place glass and china carefully - don't throw those :P)
Any money that is raised is a bonus - and we get to promote values of
re-use and recycle - plus we are doing something good for those on low
incomes.
Anything left over can be donated to any of the numerous charity shops
in Bradford and/or materials could be bagged up and sold by weight to
raise a bit more (though not sure how much).
Thoughts please..... :)
