Hi

Once again, we're holding a May Day event in Shipley (Yorkshire UK) as part
of a wider May Day bash in Bradford.

The event website for last year was www.ante-art.co.uk - this shows who got
involved. I've put some links to reviews and other info about Ante 2012 at
the end of this email.

As last year's event went really well, we are following the same format:

- exhibition of prints, photos, film, performances
- book/print fair
- cafe & bar
- gig
- art-factory - pass on skills for others

Ante takes the idea of art and scrapes off the dogma, the commercialism and
the elitism. Ante explores and celebrates the use of art and print as an
expression of free will and a megaphone for those whose collective voices
struggle to be heard.

Ante is Shipley's May Day celebration, taking place at the Kirkgate Centre
on the 4-5th May. Saturday starts with a small press, zine and print fair
followed by a benefit gig. Sunday is an ante-Art factory - dress for mess
and produce your own £25million masterpiece.

Contributors are doing one or more of the following:

• contributing to the content - images, letters, photographs,
installations, film and live performance. Some are putting up something
new, others are digging out something that expresses the sentiment of Ante.
• running a stall at the small press fair (small press, pamphlets, zines,
posters, etc). Stalls should make a donation to help cover costs - about £5
would be helpful.
• taking part in the ante-art factory if you have some techniques to share
- last year included knitting, letterpress & screen printing
• things for younger people to do - last year kids were building camps,
drawing, printing, being robots, etc
• helping at the event - volunteering to set-up, help with the cafe, help
with the gig, etc

Anyone contributing is also asked (but not obliged) to:

• provide an image/text for the website (see our homepage)
• produce their own flyer/invitation
• provide something for the programme - as we have no money (we do however
have a colour copier) we are sticking all the programme contributions into
a paper bag and handing that out - that means contributors have no
restriction in terms of words numbers, etc., or what they say/show but they
do have to provide the artwork.

If you would like to get onboard (or already are), please have a look at
the list above and let me have details of what you are doing for the
programme and website.

I've you'd prefer not to be contacted again, please let me know.
