[ShareTompkins] NEED BANDS FOR VOICES UNITED CONCERT SEPT 29 at THE NINES

We need a couple of more bands to participate in the upcoming Voices United Concert on Saturday, September 29 at The Nines (10pm-1am). 



This national "flash mob" of music, as far as can be determined, is a first in the non-profit world.

"Since the founding of America, music has been a powerful force for social justice. The last weekend of September, Americans United for Separation of Church and State (www.au.org) is sponsoring a country-wide weekend of musical events to celebrate - and defend - the vital principle of church-state separation. There will be house or club concerts in every state and larger concerts in several cities.   American musicians and performers - as well as all music lovers and friends of the Constitution - will step up once again and join us in a time when so much of what we all love about America is in peril.

 

Under the rubric Voices United for Separation of Church and State (www.voicesunitedconcerts.com),  these events will be raising both awareness and funds to support work on issues such as marriage equality and reproductive rights.   Over 100 musicians and performers including Sara Hickman, John McCutcheon, Cheryl Wheeler, Ellis Paul, Guy Davis, A Fragile Tomorrow, Roy Zimmerman  and comedian Dan Nainan are donating their time and talent to this endeavor.  The finale events will take place in Los Angeles and Nashville on October 1st and will feature Sarah Silverman, Russell Brand, Mary Gauthier and Catie Curtis in LA and Janis Ian, Gretchen Peters, Don Henry and Walter Egan in Nashville. " 

 

We are excited to be hosting one of these concerts in Ithaca!
