    Hi

The sheffieldsocialforum.org domain has been down for
almost two weeks now, lowtech haven't responded to the
email sent to them about this last week [1] perhaps
someone might be able to call in in person and ask them
    what is going on?

I think I've sent this to the list before, but I thought I'd send it
again. Bizarre - the BBC have, er, come up with this, um, er, really
brilliant website with STACKS of stuff on, er... what might be called
reclaiming power, or some such thing. They cover everything except how
to build molotov cocktails. Although maybe they do that too and I just
    haven't looked hard enough.
Just goes to show what a wishy-washy liberal I am: it's exactly what I'd
do if I were doing a similar website: make no prescription about what
people WANT to take action on, and just supply people with the tools to
    do it.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ican/

This page has everything on how to campaign, from publicity to protests
to sit-ins to using the net: - and an excellent guide on how to research
issues and how to avoid being sued:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ican/howtocampaign

And this page is entitled 'how to organise a protest'.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ican/A1930916

Probably shouldn't tell too many people about this - direct action being
encouraged by Auntie. Hardly likely to aid the romanticism of resisting
    the state, eh?

If they're not careful, they'll get their servers impounded by the FBI.

Hi, i've been reading some stuff on the net about the Sheffield Social Forum
and I am interested in getting involved. I can't find any up to date stuff
(probably looking in the wrong place) so if you can let me know what is going
on, and how I can get involved, it would be much appreciated.

For your information, i'm a member of ! the Anarchist Federation.

    In solidarity
    Joe

    Hallo Joe,

    Dan here from SSF.

First thing to do - subscribe to this list so you can post without
needing a moderator's approval, and get in on the discussion:

Sorry - the www.sheffieldsocialforum.org website is down at the minute.

    http://lists.aktivix.org/mailman/listinfo/ssf

But you can go to -

    http://wiki.sheffieldsocialforum.org.uk/Main_Page

(Have you come across WIKIs before? Anyone can edit pages... it's
proved a really useful tool for us.)

As to what's happening next: take a look at the current flyer doing the
    rounds -

    http://www.spodulike.freeuk.com/ssf/ssf_esf_leaflet.pdf

    (Scroll down for page 2!)

The Democracy cafes are from 6 to 8.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 21st October, Sharrow Community Hall, on
John St, by Bramall Lane FC. (The building has letters on it - go down
the road until you get to 'F', and you should see a sign for the
    community hall.)

It's a totallly open forum, and the direction we're taking is open too.
We haven't planned any actions yet: the only one that's currently more
likely is an anti-incinerator campaign - but that's just coz I happen to
know some people in Lond! on who want to do a national day of action.

Anyone else on the list got thoughts on what's gonna happen in the next
    few months?

    Dan

    Hia!

Who is going on which coaches to London?

We have some flyers now - but are there SSF people on specific coaches
who could talk to people / pass round a list to get e-mails for getting
people on to the announcements list?

Or do we know people on coaches who aren't SSF but might be sympathetic
    to giving flyers out?

    ??

Maybe the 1 years purchase of the domain has run out. Didn't we also
get www.sheffieldsocialforum.org.uk ? That should be running for 2
years but type i! t in and you get, "Forbidden You don't have permission
to access / on this server." so don't know what's up with that.

Finally there should be a lowtech url too. Probably something like

www.sheffieldsocialforum.lowtech.org though that don't work so must be
    something else.
