Hi all,

Sorry I've been out of touch of late, house moving, job hunting
busyness. The following email came to the ssf at riseup mail account,
wondered if anyone's up for helping out:

(I've left the email address off, contact off list if you want to get in
touch with Celia)

Plus, third thursday of the month tomorrow - are people up for a
meeting? Agenda suggestions?

cheers
Kev

Dear Sheffield Social Forum,

Good afternoon to you, i'm not sure who checks this mail but if it's Kev or dan
hello! And if it's not, hello aswell! It's Celia here, and i'm just emailing to
ask if you could help me out.

Basically, it's the freshers fair at shef uni on 24th september, and although I
won't be there as i'll be at work, people and planet have a stall. As well as
all the usual recruiting stuff, i was hoping to get some sort of information
together for people interested in getting involved with some direct action -
and especially for planning some interesting forms of protest around the G8
summit next year.

I'm not sure how much SSF has thought about this, but you are an obvios alley
through which to get more people invovled. Also, i thought it may be worth
putting some information about the up-coming ESF on the stall and chatting to
people about the ESF and SSF.

So, what i need from you guys is some information I can use on a leaflet -
unfortunately I haven't been that involved with the SSF so far, so maybe if
someone could write a small blurb about the SSF, the ideas behind it and what
you're doing at the moment, i could put some sort of info together...

My thinking is that the leaflet will talk a bit about the G8 (boo), then about
direct action and planning for it, and a good way to do it is through social
forums...
then in the mid-future some sort of planning meetings will happen in the run up
to the summit...

I have been away all summer so i'm a bit out of touch with the political world,
so any ideas or suggestions would be really useful. Maybe if someone is free
for a cupple of hours on 24th you could go down to the Octagon and chat to
people (it does mean being surrounded by horroble smelly studens though, urgh)
and see what kind of response you get....

Well, if you can help please be in touch, I'm not in sheffield til next
wednesday so it'll have to be via e-mail ...

hope you're all well and good!!

Love and peace, celia x
