Hi. I got an e-mail asking whether anyone had any events they wanted put in your listings. I would be most grateful if you would put 'Demo' in your listings. Here is some more information about 'Demo':

Demo is a clubnight that has been set-up amongst charitable or non-profit groups around Nottinghama to focus on issues of environmental and social justice both locally and internationally. It is held at BluePrint nightclub in Radford, Alfreton Rd. The night is the product of a lot of work and collaboration between different groups and organisations who are working together for the first time, bringing fragmented aspects of Nottingham together and producing something exciting and progressive. All involved share the belief that words, art and music can be used to expand people's concepts of what is happening all around the world. The next Demo, which is a monthly event will be on the 26th February.

The venue is open from 7pm to 3am. From 7* 9pm workshops are run at the venue allowing people in the area to come and try out new cultural experiences such as Samba, Yoga, Painting, Poetry writing and reading, Belly Dancing, Craft, and Drumming. On the 26th February there will be workshops in juggling, DJing and capoeira. The clubnight ensues from 9pm tp 3am when all 5 rooms are opened up including; 1) The cafe, 2) The accoustic room, 3) The dj room, 4) The band room and 5) The visuals room.

The Demo team is working on the night becoming the first Fair Trade club night in Nottingham and so the café downstairs serves fair trade tea and coffee, and chocolate. Fair trade fairies also dispense free samples of fairtrade wine, chocolate and biscuits. A small collection of literature about global issues is also available at the cafe which has been host to capoeira demonstrations.

The clubnight is not genre-specfic and the three music rooms have been host to a wide range of acts. Our main act last month was 'Foreign Beggars', recently voted best newcomers in UK Hip-Hop magazine, and our main act this month will be Ceefax. Furthermore the visuals room not only shows short films and visuals produced by local artists and anti-sweatshop groups but encourages local students and working artists to display their artwork on the walls.

Most importantly the money taken at the door that does not go back into the night is used to support local and international charities - a different one every month. The launch night on saturday the 22nd of January rasied over 1000 pounds for tsunami relief and the next event on February 26th will raise money for one local and one international anti-gun / anti-arms trade group.

The club-night has already enjoyed incredible success, packing out a club of capacity 400 on both occassions so far. However in order to make this a regular sustainable event we need help your in publicisng it. Please consult www.demoproject.co.uk for more details or contact us on either:
