10 - 10.30  Welcome and introducing each others. 

 From Porto Alegre: what happened at the World Social Forum
 

10.30 - 12.00 Workshops

We are planning to talk about

  a.. Peace/antiwar 
  b.. AntiG8 and alternatives 
  c.. Enviroment 
  d.. Community struggles and future plans for Manchester  
  e.. Workers /casual jobs / health and safety 
  f.. Civil rights - civil liberties 
  g.. Migrants and racism 
  h.. Genders and sexuality politics

We are asking all different groups, associations, TUs,
individuals to work together and network in order to
organize the workshops. 



12- 1 pm Let's eat together! Bring something to eat and
drink! Share with the others!



1.00- 3.00 The fair of alternativity

Have a stall or a table in the hall. Talk about what you
are doing at the present. Network with people in other
groups in affinity areas.  Have short presentations

Ex: Boycott Coke, Boycott Israeli product ....and fair
trade or Palestinian trade!

The NO to....and the YES for....

2 hours when people can go from one stall to an other and
know better about what they are interested in having the
chance of small meetings and announcements.



3.00 - 4.00 : People's Assembly: Call for actions coming
from the workshops and the day activities



Social in the evening with music and food


Creative people are invited to express themselves in an
exibition on.......

All the tzunamis in this world - natural and human
desasters All the works will be exposed at the end of the
Assembly and taken to other places in the future

workshop, having a stall or a table, talk about your
campaign, organize the exibition, give us a hand for the
food and the social or anything else please contact us

What is Manchester Social Forum?

It is part of a global campaigning network. It is not a
political party.it's a place where people discuss ideas
and take action.

It aims to give the people and groups of Manchester an
opportunity to do something about their concerns in and
around Manchester.


There are no leaders to obey, no manifesto to implement,
there is no 'members only' policy, just people who want to
make a real difference!

The only 'rules' are 'The Charter of Principles' which
were set out at the 1st World Social Forum (yes, there are
social forums everywhere!) and these only exist to protect
the 'open to all' policy!


The general purpose of the social forum locally,
nationally and internationally is to link individuals and
groups who share a common goal, CHANGE! In it's relatively
short life (since 2003) Manchester Social Forum has helped
by initiating and/or supporting MANY causes (see over for
a list of some of these).


So if you have ever thought "but what can I do about it?"
come to the Manchester Social Forum at The Friends Meeting
House on Mount St.

(behind the central library) every Thursday at 7:30 PM and
find out!
