 From today's Independent:

"Kenya: Hazardous waste, dislodged by the Indian Ocean tsunami, poses
health risks to affected nations, a UN Environmental Program report said
yesterday. It cited Somalia, where other countries had dumped nuclear
waste over the years, and where people were now suffering from mouth
bleeds, respiratory infections and skin ailments."

I don't think its hard to see how closely linked environmental and
developmental perspectives are if you only look.
