Last e-mail of the day, perhaps...
Proposal:
*City Centre SSF stall!*
This could happen once a month, maybe on Fargate. Having spoken to the
licensing people briefly, I know not very much - but I did hear that
they could be supportive of something like this. Maybe.
Its overall purpose would be to act as a little focal point where any
political or campaigning organisation could have some stall-space, in a
stall that had goods, food, and a sit-down area for drinking fud,
reading and wibbling. We could even have debates and speakers. It's
all for civic engagement, you know! The government likes that kind of
thing! And teaching about the G8 - which the government supports! And
generally encouraging active citizenship...
... and all those other key words.
It would contain:
* Things to eat and drink - maybe New Roots would like to come on board...
* Stalls selling political wares, books, t-shirts
* Stalls with literature from whichever organisation could be arsed to
turn up (we could take bookings before-hand...)
* Sit-down area, with comfy armchairs and a bit of carpet.
This is all rather dependent on a) it being affordable / us getting
funding from a union or something b) someone having a van c) finding or
making a suitable SSF tent d) the Council going for the idea.
They're just in the process of changing licensing laws, so they're going
to get back to me.
Thoughts?
