Ce salon du livre fait parti de la 4e édition de
Pervers/Cité<http://www.perverscite.org>,
une série d’événement visant à fournir des alternatives financièrement
accessibles et politisées au festival culturel Divers/Cité, i.e. la Fierté
gaie de Montréal.  Une impressionnante série d’activités auront lieu cette
année entre le 5 et le 15 août. Plusieurs ateliers prendront place pendant

Depuis la fermeture de L’Androgyne en 2002, Montréal n’a pas réussi à
conserver une libraire queer.  Par cet événement, nous espérons rendre
accessible du matériel queer introuvable dans la ville, de même qu’attirer
l’attention sur le rôle des librairies queers dans la création d'espace
collectif et dans le support à la production culturelle queer.

The bookfair is being organized as part of the fourth annual
Pervers/Cité<http://www.perverscite.org>,
a series of events aimed at providing a financially accessible and
issue-based alternative to the annual Divers/Cité cultural festival, aka
Montreal Pride. A sweet series of events is being organized for this year,
between  August 5th and August 15th. A number of workshops will be taking
place at the bookfair as well. Check out perverscite.org for details.

Since the closing of L’Androgyne in 2002, Montreal has not maintained a
long-standing queer bookstore. Through this event, we hope to provide access
to queer materials that are otherwise unavailable in the city, as well as
draw attention to the role of queer bookstores in providing community space
and supporting queer cultural production.
