i think it's generally a good idea to allow posting from outside the
list, as that means it doesn't irritate those who occasionally access
email from a different account or whatever (e.g. jmr59 at cam.ac.uk
automatically points to jmr59 at hermes.cam.ac.uk, and which i send from
depends on how i access email...)
