[en] this has begun to be discussed in london including some ideas from
abroad; some discussion is also taking place in the hacklabs list which
is meant to be international but people keep posting in spanish, i don't
know why ;-)

hello freedomlabbers,

The FFII are doing a fair bit at the EU level, tracking developments,
stalking lobbyists, http://swpat.ffii.org/ which you might have seen.

Our friend Rufus Pollock coordinates http://www.ffii.org.uk/ ; they
managed to get free software voices and faces to some of the DTI
patents workshops late last year.

- what other local groups are there? LONIX, the London Perl Mongers,
maybe the UKUUG. smaller local LUGs; the Ubuntu people from Oxford.
other active/wellknown UK based free software projects?

- what would be 'outcomes'? if this is awareness-raising, there should
be some action that people could take; writing to MPs/MEPs is a
start but might not provide much inspiration / gratification...

i think it's a great idea, though.

i haven't been in london much the last few months, but around from
April-June and would like to get involved a bit more / offer that
wireless workshop we talked about late last year...

-jo
