Great idea; at the lewisham town hall demo last week (fantastic student presence) I was struck by the fact that it is so rare that people are actually trying to get into the building since normally the debate is so dull it would have the opposite effect, i.e. a place you'd really want to avoid, so really like the idea of walk ins because it shows the positive desire for real democracy

Subject: walk-ins as well as walk-outs?
Hi all. At the end of the RTW meeting today was chatting with Mark Barrett and Paul Brandon and came up with the idea of walk-ins not just walkouts. By that I mean, for schools, parents would choose a day where they ( after speaking to kids and after negotiation with militant teachers etc) would 'walk in' to a school and create a general assembly with teachers and above all the kids, who would walkout of class, in the main hall. Similar could happen with students/anti-cuts going to a large workplace and walking in and shutting down work and creating and assembly, again after discussion with union/reps. Anyway just an idea that could take things forward.
Cheers Glyn
