Hi all,

Could I suggest that as many of us as possible meet at the Transition
Durham gazebo at 2pm? It would be great to have a face-to-face catch
up, chat about our progress so far and what to do next, including
where we're going to put the posters for the big event on July 26th.
If you're on this mailing list but haven't met the rest of us so far,
this would be a nice opportunity to say hi.

I think the poster / flier delivery to the event should be in hand now
(I've sent private messages with my address to those who need it, just
now).

How low can you go - a fun activity for all laptop users

Come one and all! Bring along your laptop and it's mains power supply
and I'll use a plug-in power meter (in the church hall) to measure how
much power it uses. Then I'll show you some ways to reduce the power
consumption.

If you're not already using GNU/linux, you can try booting it from a
USB stick and see what difference that makes to the power consumption,
without making any permanent changes to your laptop.

This won't be a full-on green-computing hackathon (we've just left it
too late to organise that), it's just a fun way to "walk the walk" as
well as talking the talk. I'll bring some paper and marker pens to
tabulate the results.
