Hi everyone,

Those of you who read ethicalconsumer.org might have seen their
September sector report on the internet [0]. It's a very useful resource.

As part of the report Charlie Harvey, IT manager for New
Internationalist and commentator on the Durham Free Software
Skill-Share blog [1], has written a blog piece which discusses the
importance of on-line privacy and what you can do about it [2].

If you would like to get up to speed on this stuff, but you find
things like TOR and PGP baffling, you're in luck: There is an event
coming up in Durham [3] which aims to give beginners a working
knowledge of such things. It's called a CryptoParty [4], and is part
of a global grass-roots education campaign. It's at 7.30 on October
21st at the Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane.

It's free but space is limited so you need to book.

To learn more, get involved in the planning and/or book a place, have
a look here:

Because "Loose talk is Noose talk" [5]
