Bottomliner for Open Hours – Megan

Ramey will be Megan's contact person if she has questions, etc

(Nathan will bottomline going through contact list to determine people who
prefer to be contacted via phone; will be checked off in volunteer red book)

Bottomliner for meeting reminders for meeting on Thursday, February 17th at
6:30PM- Ramey

*Proposal : *Bottomliner for meeting reminders should be determined at each
meeting. No blocks. Passed with full consensus.

 *Report backs: *

LIPS Event – there were some complaints/concerns about Shortbus. Concerns
were raised about the thoroughness of the screening, and that it did not
create a safe space. LIPS has decided to make a point of having more
thorough screenings/trigger warnings for all future film showings.

*Nathan raised a point about the Brick being more vigilant about requiring
films to be screened SPECIFICALLY for trigger warnings PRIOR to the event,
and having people ask questions about certain films if they are not sure.
Making sure people understand the concept of creating a safe space.

*Proposal:* When events happen that have possible triggers, two people
should be designated to offer support to anybody who is triggered, giving
that person the option to choose who they are most comfortable with. These
designated people should be identified to attendees of the event when
trigger warnings are given. Passed with full consensus.

*Proposal:* At any event with possible triggers, the contact information
for Mind(ful) Liberation Project should be given out WITH the trigger
warnings, in case the triggered person does not feel comfortable speaking to
the designated person(s). Passed with full consensus.

*AK Press (check back) *– Ramey sent out an email to AK press re: discount
for Friends of AK Press discount

International Sex Workers Rights Day event – Ramey will continue to research
& get ideas for possible event; to be brought up at next meeting.

*Eating Disorders Awareness Month – February 22nd at 7pm*

Speakers, Short clip from Killing Us Softly & possibly American the
Beautiful

Putting together a small resource zine (both resources within the library &
external resources); contact Salem if you're interested in contributing

We are trying to have another planning meeting this weekend; more
information will be sent out when the time and date are confirmed.

 Event approved with full consensus.

*Alternative Black History Month Event – Friday February 18th at 7PM*

Salem will bottomline event. He will send out a separate email asking for
interested people.

Nothing specific planned, but definitely multimedia, interactive event. At
least part of the event will be focused on local history.

 Event approved with full consensus.

*Flying Brick team for the Richmond Reproductive Freedom Project bowling
fundraiser*

Nathan, Megan & Salem are tentatively committed to members of the Flying
Brick Library Team. A team of 4 or 5 people is ideal (there is a tentative
goal of $100 per person fundraising). The bowling event is in April. Contact
Nathan, Salem, or Megan if interested.

*MLP Speak Out Event – Saturday February 19th at 7PM*

Megan wanted to update us on the fact that MLP is being very stringent on
requiring trigger warnings for each person who is performing/presenting/etc.
Trigger warnings will be given on the Facebook page & on the RVA
Radicalendar page. The trigger warnings will also be given out at the
beginning of the event, with more specific ones being given before each
performance.

*Anarchist Book Fair – March 19th in Charlottesville*

Contact Nathan if you are interested in going with a Flying Brick “caravan”.

 *Gun Locks*

Nathan recently came into possession of some gun locks and wanted to put
them out for people to take for free. Some concerns were raised about the
association of the Flying Brick with firearms, and that a group of 5 was too
small to make the decision. To be brought back up at a later time, when
there are more people to discuss.

*Library Promotion*

Nathan wanted to encourage people to promote the library as a space. If you
are interested in flyering/leafleting, contact Nathan.

 *Possible Show April 18th *

Someone contacted Nathan re: having an instrumental experimental show. The
Brick probably doesn't have a lot of draw for that kind of crowd, but Megan
said that her house (the Black Hand) might be interested, and got the
contact information for the musical group. Megan will ask her housemates. At
this point, we are trying to help the group find a place to have the show,
though not necessarily at the Brick. There will be more updates if needed.

 *Library Lock In - *

Lock In starting at 8PM. Volunteers could hang out, work on library stuff,
organization, cleaning, etc for a few hours. Afterward, there would be
sleeping bag/ projector silly movies/ food stuffs! Tentative date set for
Friday March 25th at 8PM. We encourage people to give feedback about this
date and time, and let us know! The date should be officially voted on at
the next meeting – Thursday, February 17th at 6:30 PM.

*Teach In re: Monsanto – February 16th *

A couple people will be coming to talk about Monsanto and GMOs. Robert
Cataldo is the point of contact for the house. Date approved, no promotion
necessary as the people putting it on are going to be responsible for it.

**Megan is going flyering tomorrow (Tuesday the 8th) at some point either
before 12:30 OR between 3 and 6. If anybody is interested in joining,
contact her at 804.334.2203.
