Hi
I think we should go with this and discuss it if we get a space on 25th or perhaps call an extra meeting for the purpose

          Hi all,

Tony from the London Anarchist Bookfair organising group here.

We have started to think about this years Anarchist Bookfair (Saturday October 21st), and this year we want to plan meetings in a bit more co-ordinated way. There will still be enough space for any groups coming to the bookfair to have a meeting on what ever issues they want, but we also want to provide a number of meetings on specific subjects to get a decent discussion going.

So, we thought it would be good to speak to you, the London Anarchist Forum, to see if you have any suggestions. As you put on monthly discussion meetings, you have good ideas of subjects that have been interesting and/or topical.

As you probably know, we have to charge for stalls and meetings to cover the cost of the venue and publicity. So, we may need to charge for meeting space, but we could chat about this and maybe see if the two of our groups can find ways to raise money for the spaces in advance.

What we were wondering is if LAF would consider putting on a few discussion meetings on the day of the bookfair. Normally meetings are for 1 hour each. This gives time for a decent discussion, but there is no reason why meetings can't be 90 minutes or 2 hours long. This has happened at times in the past.

I guess we were thinking of discussions that would bring people in and definitely ones that would get people discussing an issue relevant to them - rather than just listening to a speaker for the whole time. They could be aimed at people who have been in our movement years or aimed at people new to anarchism, as more and more of these people seem to be coming to the bookfair.

We didn't want to think this through much more until we spoke to yourselves, to see if you would be up for it. If the idea is of interest, give me an email back and we can either chat about it via emails, or on the phone, or meet up to chat.

Cheers and hope to hear back from you.

  Tony Wood
