Hi there...

The Collecitve wasn't aware they had their tickets already
printed...that is a problem
but we should be able to solve that.
The basic concern is that selling tickets in advance does advertise
matilda as a proper venue...
with this we might draw attention of jealous clubs around and Matilda
might be much more likely to get trouble with the taxman...
what was said today is that matilda as it is at the moment can't be run
as a proper venue and we need to reflect that in the way we do parties,
and in the way we invite people to do parties...

nobody wants them to loose money on this...and just because there is a
basic understanding that no one will be turned away doesn't mean that
people will get in easy without paying....as I guess, most guests will
suppose that they have to pay anyway...so there won't be much of a
loss...
Anyway -in light of short notice and our obligation to stand for what
we said or didn't say to external people before - I believe we need to
make sure, with the money that comes in through the bar, that C90 will
cover their costs. I understand this as a possible line of compromise
with C90 for not selling tickets in advance but rather insisting
(firmly and polite) on the requested/suggested donation on the door.

We need to get a policy fixed and that might as well disencourage more
expensive parties to be done in Matilda...Promoters need to be aware
what Matilda is and what it is not...they should come to our meetings
really and need to understand on what precarious grounds we are....
at the end of the day it is not sustainable to be not able to do
parties at all.
the basic opinion for now seems to be against pre-selling/fixed
rates...and for benefit/charity/donation basis...that is to say people
gonna get a reason why they are asked to pay in that is other then just
for the running of the party...then it shouldn't be difficult to raise
funds even if people are getting aware that we are bloddy hippies.
I think this policy should apply to gigs/filmnights/whatever else with
a cover-charge as well....
and the good thing with this policy is that we can maintain towards
commercial clubs/the taxman that all we're doing is for benefit/DiY and
not for profit...this does put us into a different position if not
legally, then at least politically...
