08: ESOL - National Action Day
On Wednesday 28th February, students and young people from STAR (Student
Action for Refugees) will be campaigning against the Learning and Skills
Councils planned cuts to English language tuition (English for Speakers
of Other Languages, ESOL) and Further Education (FE) for asylum seekers
and refugees by hosting creative and thought-provoking events across the
UK.
STAR groups at 30 universities across the country will be taking part in
a National Action Day; setting up mock ESOL classes to illustrate the
importance of English classes for asylum seekers and refugees, in
addition to many other events.
