[pagan-magik] The Keys to Pagan Magickal Activism

hi & sorry - i just had a computer free time (not entirely voluntary,
though very welcome) that's why i haven't sorted the list issue yet.

i'm very happy to pass on my administrator role, i really have no
emotional attachment to it, and like ian, could easily do with less
responsibilities. that just as a clarification... (cos steve for one
thought my behaviour displayed fascist tendencies..)

ok here go the practicalities:

basically, there are the following fundamental decisions to be made ASAP:

********************************************************
    (i) is the list 'open' - i.e. anyone can subscribe - or is approval
by so called list-moderators needed?

(ia) if so, who wants to be list moderator (no one is at the moment,
the list is open)?

(ii) is the list archive (i.e. collection of all postings) public
(accessible by non-members) or private (accessible only by members)?
please remember that even a 'private' archive is not fully secure - we
should of course *always* be careful sending sensitive information via
the internet.

(iii) who wants to be list administrator? - there are two ownership
roles associated with each mailing list.. the list administrators are
the people who have ultimate control over all parameters of this mailing
list.. they are able to change any list configuration variable available
through the administration web pages (examples are changing such things
as whether the archive is public or private, changing the introductory
messages, mass-subscribing a group of people, changing the admin
password etc).
((the other ownership role is list moderator - the list moderators have
more limited permissions; they are not able to change any list
configuration variable, but they are allowed to tend to pending
administration requests, including approving or rejecting held
subscription requests, and disposing of held postings. Of course, the
list administrators can also tend to pending requests.))
*********************************************************

can i make the following suggestion:

anybody who wants to should have a look at the admin webpages to see
what being a list administrator means - i.e. which list variables there
are that the administrator can change and determine through the admin
interface - this might help people to make a decision of whether they
want to be administrators or not.

to access the admin pages you need the password which i can mail
off-list to anyone who wants to have a look.

the password can always be chagned later if we decide to only have a
small number of people with admin status.

may i also add that being an administrator does not at all have to be
about who has the power *over* the list - it is really in the end about
who takes responsibility for certain things - list admins are also
automatically on the aktivix-admin-support-list so they get more mail to
wade through (hasn't been very much though for the last couple of
weeks).. as long as roles of power/responsibility are fluid and
temporary i cannot see how they should pose any threat to anyone's
anarchist sensibilities...

blurb blurb blurb..

love
nina
