Planning meeting 7-8 May 2005, Edinburgh

We are now planning an action to take place in central Edinburgh on Monday,
4th July 2005 on the themes of ‘No wage slavery’, ‘No dole slavery’ ‘No debt
slavery’ and ‘No army slavery’.

To this end, we’re holding a meeting on the weekend of 7 May to talk about
ideas, practicalities and publicity. There will be time to relax and
socialise — which is often when the most inspiring ideas come up!

We are a working group organising actions at the G8 that comes out of our
day-to day struggles over work, claiming benefits, housing and resistance to
debt. Our aim is to take action that will inspire ongoing solidarity and
subversion wherever we work and live, long after the G8 delegates have
packed their bags and run away.

Let's put an end to the lie that people who are deemed unproductive in
capital's terms — "economically inactive" — make no contribution to social
well-being. We need new ways to resist the social cuts, privatisation,
precarity, workfare and increased pressure on those in employment being
imposed throughout Europe and beyond.

When we sign on, we're told to "actively seek" work. But we actively seek
the end of this profit-based system, and work towards a global community
based on freedom, co-operation and human need.

All welcome to discuss action at the G8 and beyond.
