> Dear community member,
>
> I’m teaching a course at Cornell this Spring called Intermediate Web Programming. For a final project, groups of 3-4 students will need to make a website for a “client.” We’ve created an online form to give you an opportunity to be a client and make an appeal to the students to create a website (new or replacement) for your organization or a project within your organization. I can’t guarantee that your project will be chosen by any of the groups. We’ll have about 50 groups looking for clients. I don’t know how many prospective client appeals we’ll receive. Feel free to pass this invitation on. We’ll close down the online form when we can’t accept any more requests.

> To guide your expectations, you should know a few things.
> Communication: You need to be available to meet with the students in late March / early April. Ideally, this would be in person and that probably means meeting someplace on the Cornell campus. You’ll also need to be available to communicate with the students as the project develops in April through their deadline in early May. Students may occasionally contact you during that time, please anticipate the communications and reply to them in a timely manner.
> Project Scope: The students have roughly a month to complete this as well as work in their other courses. They can't take on anything too complex. They will be able to discuss this with you.
> Additional Constraints: Although you are the client and part of the experience is working for you, the students will be graded on how well they can demonstrate use of the concepts they have been learning in class. They may need to negotiate some of the site features with you to achieve this.
> Hosting: During development and through grading in May, the site will be hosted on our course server. After that, if you like the site enough, it will require a means of hosting. The students can help with this. If you need a hosting arrangement, you can expect to pay $10 - $20 per month.
> Maintenance and Updates: Students may or may not be available to help update / maintain the site after the semester is over.
> No Payment: This is course work and it is not appropriate to pay students for creating this project.
> No Guarantees: For a variety of reasons, your project may not be chosen. Even if students do work on a project for you, the end result may not work for you. We hope that at least the process moves your project forward.
>
> If those constraints are acceptable, please consider filling out this form. If you have questions, please fill out the form as best as you are able and include the questions with your appeal.
>
> We’ve already seen some remarkable work out of these talented students. I hope for some beautiful partnerships.
