[Ssf] Lat night's meeting

Hi,

Amparo - sorry you got to the meeting room to find it locked! We always
have to ask them to open it for us, because Sharrow Community Forum
never tell the security folk that we've booked it.

No-one else went, no? Hmm...

Interesting!

I know this might be a bit tricky, coz Kev's just got a squillion
business cards done with the times of the meetings on - but what does
anyone else think about the usefulness of these meetings? If they're
attended at all, it's by the usual suspects / the 'core working group',
but we don't actually use the space effectively to organise, or to put
on anything useful to anyone else.

I'd like to make a tentative suggestion - which will make all the
business cards useless! But I guess having business cards isn't a
reason for keeping something going just by themselves, so -

How about we stop having regular meetings? We could have a go at the
Leicester Social Forum model - no regular meetings, just events and
meetings as and when, and of various sorts - social events, talks with
speakers, working group meetings, etc.

We then just continue to use this list to discuss stuff, and maybe once
every two months have some kind of convening meeting - becoming a much
looser network, in effect, because people would just organise various
activities, and try to get others involved!

The risk here is that, having stopped regular meetings, no-one actually
does anything at all, and SSF just fizzles out. But I'd say if that
happens, then it should be apparent that there wasn't enough oomph in
the group to make stuff happen anyway...

Anyway, write back and say what ya think - I'm sending a second e-mail
with some specific ideas for future events and happenings.

Dan
