Hi,

I am not sure about these manifesto points:

>The five proposed manifesto points for this group are:
>
>· Furthering the independent media movement
>· Protecting the environment locally and globally
>· Finding democratic and accountable alternatives for the IMF, WTO and
>World Bank
>· Creating a global parliament
>· Instituting a Tobin Tax on international currency speculation

Do they indicate an unparticipative and disempowering 'signing up' to a
pre-set programe/agenda?

I personally am not willing to join another political grouping with a global
only outlook, we already have make poverty history, sheffield against G8,
dissent which are doing alot of good work, maybe we should work with them
and make them successfull as oppose to diluting our message further. I
remember when one of the goals of the ssf was to co-ordinate and help the
different social justice groups in sheffield work together and now it seems
we are another social justice group among many looking for things to do.

I think what we need is not more co-ordination but more grass roots action
and in my opinion if we did a few more actions and abit less arguing then
people will want to join us afterall doesnt the saying go "success breeds
success".

I know why i dont go to many political meetings anymore and i know why alot
of people i know dont go to very many political meetings anymore and it isnt
because of a lack of co-ordination and debate it is because there are too
many debates, meetings, arguments and not enough local grass roots action.
